The eighth-grader son of SCUM OF THE EARTH’s frontman was dragged out of his class by his teacher, Christy Lawrence, who then forced the boy to get on his knees and pray to Jesus. Apparently, this religidiot “art teacher” didn’t like the kid’s t-shirt, which was emblazoned with his father’s band’s logo: a monster on a crucifix.
Riggs (pictured), who used to play with Rob Zombie and now fronts his own outfit, is justifiably disturbed by the incident that took place with his son. Riggs had this to say:
This is ridiculous… [The school in question] is a public school, and there’s supposed to be a separation between church and state… You would think that someone who’s an art teacher would have some understanding of the concept of freedom of speech, and artistic freedom of expression, however this lady is clearly a religions nutcase. It’s just another example of how these people have infiltrated public schools, government and politics in an effort to force their own agenda upon anyone who doesn’t necessarily believe exactly what they do — regardless of what the First Amendment of the United States Constitution says.
Right on. The fact that this happened in a public school makes it all the more unacceptable. This teacher ought to lose her license, and I hope legal action is taken against her. Riggs is reportedly considering contacting the American Civil Liberties Union over this one. I hope he does.
This type of ongoing religious bullying is endemic. If they’re not knocking on your door at 9:00 on a Sunday morning, or jamming up the radio waves with their rhetoric, or trying to cram creationism down our collective throat, or attempting to overturn Roe v. Wade, or carrying out countless other inanities, then they’re dragging students out of class and forcing them to pray to some imaginary idol for forgiveness. Over the image on a t-shirt.
This is exactly why I’m not overly tolerant of religions and faith in general. It’s the old you-give-them-an-inch-and-they-take-a-mile problem. These religidiots just can’t seem to keep their nonsense to themselves, can they?
And how come you never hear of an atheist trying to force someone to renounce their beliefs in the outrageous?
