Supremacy of Human Mind over God
The very concept of God came to human mind making God a creation of human mind. There is nothing to prove that the concept is a divine creation or existed before evolution of human civilization.

All spiritualists and Godly persons declare that a creator is always superior to the created and through this they claim that the God created the whole Universe and so is the superiormost of everything in this Universe. But we all know that even this thesis is a creation of human mind. Thus, human mind is proved to be superior to even God and all its related concepts and hypotheses.

All Godly personalities like Ram of Theo culture, Jesus of Christianity, etc. have been experiencing pains and pleasures of life like all other ordinary persons on this earth. This proves that they were also humans. Of course, such persons were great in their deeds, or we may say that these persons had great thoughts in their minds for which humanity appreciates them. Importantly, none of such real great persons claimed to be Divine or embodiments of God in their lifetimes. People who appreciated their greatness respected them. And when the concept of God and Divinities came into being, they were regarded as Divine personalities and embodiments of God.
Concept of God, The

Thus, Godliness is greatness of mind and deeds which anybody may achieve through self-restrain, discipline and taking care of humanity through taking it forward on its march to a better human civilization. In this respect, one thing is sure and certain - Godliness is not be claimed by the person him/herself but has to be rewarded by others of future generations after realizing and ascertaining greatness of deeds of the person. Whosoever claims to be Divine by him/herself is a fraud against humanity and Godliness. One can only be devoted to Godliness but can't claim to have achieved it.

Religious institutions impose hypocrisy

..snore...snore...what, What, Oh, right, my blog! Don't worry, I didn't go away. In fact, I'm more active than ever at Good Reason News — Tumblr Edition. Think of that as GRN Daily and this blogspot location as GRN, ...monthly? Bi-weekly? Well, either way, I'm advising if you're following GRN here, you check it out there as well. OK, now:

I came upon some interesting international news recently involving our old friends at the Vatican. It seems that the Vatican, embroiled in a child abuse scandal, facing declining numbers, and losing influence the world over, is taking a Karl Rove approach and shoring up their base. And who is there base? Naturally, it's people who desire oppression. The great American writer Arthur Miller once said:

"There are a lot of Americans, i think they’re a minority, but they’re very vocal, really aching for an Ayatollah. I think would love to have a department of religion. We’d go back to the early 17th century, perhaps. Have an official church. They’ve convinced a lot of people to forget this country was founded by people who were escaping governmental religion."

...and he died before Sarah Palin hit the national spotlight!

Keep that in mind as you read about the Catholic Church's latest shenanigans:

New Vatican campaign to clamp down on 'liberal opinion'

By John Cooney

Monday June 07 2010

VATICAN investigators to Ireland appointed by Pope Benedict XVI are to clamp down on liberal secular opinion in an intensive drive to re-impose traditional respect for clergy, according to informed sources in the Catholic Church.

The nine-member team led by two cardinals will be instructed by the Vatican to restore a traditional sense of reverence among ordinary Catholics for their priests, the Irish Independent has learned.

Priests will be told not to question in public official church teaching on controversial issues such as the papal ban on birth control or the admission of divorced Catholics living with new partners to the sacraments -- especially Holy Communion.

Theologians will be expected to teach traditional doctrine by constantly preaching to lay Catholics of attendance at Mass and to return to the practice of regular confession, which has been largely abandoned by adults since the 1960s.

An emphasis will be placed on an evangelisation campaign to overcome the alienation of young people scandalised by the spate of sexual abuse of children and by later cover-ups of paedophile clerics by leaders of the institutional church.

A major thrust of the Vatican investigation will be to counteract materialistic and secularist attitudes, which Pope Benedict believes have led many Irish Catholics to ignore church disciplines and become lax in following devotional practices such as going on pilgrimages and doing penance.

Bishops and priests will be instructed to preach to their congregations the unchanging central message of Jesus Christ about love, healing and repentance.

While the restoration of church discipline and pious practices such as praying to Our Lady and the saints will be welcomed by regular church-goers, the Vatican investigation is likely to face a backlash from liberal Catholics who want more accountability and democracy in church decision-making.

Visitation

Vatican officials are finalising the precise terms of the instructions for the investigators named last week by Pope Benedict, who initiated an 'Apostolic Visitation' last March in his pastoral Letter to the Catholics of Ireland.

The investigators are clearing their diaries to visit Ireland's four principal archdioceses, the national seminaries and study centres run by religious orders in the autumn.

In the wake of the shocking Murphy report into clerical child abuse, the conservative Archbishop of New York, Timothy Dolan, will examine the study courses conducted for trainee priests at the national seminaries in St Patrick's College, Maynooth, and the Pontifical Irish College in Rome.

At a meeting held in Maynooth last month, Archbishop Dolan told a gathering of priests "to return to basics" and to ground their ministry in "prayer, humility and a rediscovery of identity".

Archbishop Dolan's address, titled "God is the only treasure people desire to find in a priest", was the high point of the Irish church's celebration of The Year of the Priest, a campaign to encourage vocations to the priesthood.

The hardline address was enthusiastically endorsed by Cardinal Sean Brady, the Primate of All Ireland and Archbishop of Armagh.

This week, as part of the Vatican's rigorous restoration policy, a widely promoted rally will be staged in Rome to cap what Pope Benedict has called "The Year of the Priest".

Thousands of priests from across the world, including from Ireland, are expected to attend the showcase event which is planned as a major spectacle trumpeting the special status of the priesthood.

So what are we looking at here? A group who has lost the respect of million not aiming to earn back anyone's respect, but to squeeze out those who don't simply submit to their worldview.

Even the priests within the church, most of whom are good people trying to have a positive impact on their community, are directly being told not to think, just to stay on message.

Look, the Vatican is an autocracy. It's a top down, oppressive and extremely out of date organization that stores a ridiculous amount of power, money and policy decisions way way at the top of a golden palace while the world of 2010 is building socially conscience democracies. How is this ancient sect of power-hungry villains are able to thrive in a place like America which values freedom so strongly that we endlessly harangue anyone who supports any strong leader? Look at how the right treats Obama. There's a Tu Tlux Tlan out there screaming 'dictator,' furious at the idea of a 'big government.' Why are they not furious at the idea of the big government of the Vatican?

Religion wipes your mind clear of even your own values. If you're a priest with a dissenting opinion about stem-cell research, religion cracks down on you. If you're a Catholic who doesn't want to participate in some cruel, humiliating ritual, you're to be chastised and if you're interested in freedom, transparency and accountable leaders, you're to put those feelings aside when religion comes to town. It's imposed hypocrisy and it's a harm of religious belief.

Cognitive Dissonance: My Stressed-Out Sympathies for Israel
As is typical for Jews of my generation, since I was a child I have believed in and supported  Israel and  the ideals of Zionism.  At one time it made pragmatic sense to have a national haven for the Jewish people to return to in light of historical Antisemitism culminating in the Holocaust. Also, supporting Israel was an ace in the hole of sorts--a place of refuge if hatred of Jews were to

What About the Abuse Cases We Don’t Know About?
In my last post I discussed the raid by Belgian police of the headquarters of the Church in Belgium, and the 'furious' reaction of the Vatican at the appalling way in which Church figures were treated like ordinary people.

The raid came about because Belgian Church officials and Bishops were meeting to investigate allegations of child abuse by the Belgian clergy. Naturally, one assumes that if they were to properly investigate these claims, they would have evidence such as statements and so forth at the meeting. Not even Bishops conduct investigations by closing their eyes and thinking of God. Well, at least I assume not.

For some bizzare and unfathomable reason, the Belgian authorities took the view that allegations of sex abuse against Belgian children, by Belgian clergy, in Belgium, were a matter for Belgian prosecutors to investigate. I cannot begin to imagine why they would take this view, when allegations of abuse in other countries are usually treated as internal Church matters. As I said, allowing the Church to investigate sex abuse claims made against its priests is on a par with allowing a paedophile ring to examine the photographs of its own members, and decide which are just a little bit too risque.

All over Western Europe and North America, the Church is being forced to apologise to and compensate thousands of people who have suffered unspeakable acts of physical and sexual abuse at the hands (and various other parts) of the faithful. In Ireland, they even had to read out a letter of apology. Wow, such humility.

The thing is, all of the countries where these scandals have come to light are growing increasingly secular (with the possible exception of the USA which, as everybody knows, has been secular since its foundation) wich means there is less and less interference by the Church in national policy making, and less automatic respect for the wishes of the Vatican shown by those responsible for setting policy. It also means that fewer and fewer of the general public in these countries are in such fearful awe of the gold-plated staff-wielding proselytizing anachronism preaching humility and self-loathing from his palace in Rome than they once were.

No wonder his holiness is so worried about secularism; it is not a decline in Christian belief he fears, but a decline in the power of the Church.

So we note that all of the countries where people feel able to speak out about the abuse they have suffered are wealthy, civilized, secular Western nations. Which brings us on to the nub of this post. What about those countries where people still live in genuine fear of the Church and its power?

Are you asking us to believe that there is something intrinsically decadent about Western societies that turns so many pious, celibate and God-fearing servants of Christ into child abusing monsters? Or could it be the case that thousands of innocent children in South America, Africa, South and South East Asia are even now suffering abuse, but they and their parents are unable to speak out for fear of the reactions in their communities?

We already know that some priests serving in Ireland, who were accused of acts of such unspeakable depravity that even the Church had to do something about it, were relocated to 'safe' parishes in central Africa and more remote parts of South America. Safe for the priests of course, presumably less safe for the innocents who came under their care and influence.

So as we reflect upon the thousands of lives damaged here in the West by the Church's pathetic insistence upon the celibacy of the clergy, maybe we should take a little time to wonder how many thousands of children in poorer, less literate and (crucially) more God-fearing societies may even now be suffering the same fate.

So long as the Church wields real power, we may never know.
